Virgin Islands, United States Casino and Card Room Gaming 2k5lo

The legal casino industry in the Virgin Islands dates back to 1995 when the government ed the Virgin Islands Casino and Resort Control Act. The purpose of this legislation was to stimulate the economy of St. Croix, the largest of the three main islands comprising the United States Virgin Islands. Casino gaming is only allowed on St. Croix.

Southland Gaming of the Virgin Islands was granted the exclusive right to operate and place slots and VLTs throughout the islands in 1998. Currently, people may play VLTs and slots at various entertainment and retail locations throughout St. John and St. Thomas.

In 2010, the governor of St. Thomas signed a racino bill allowing casino gambling at the territory’s racetracks. The Smoke-Free Act was ed at the same time, banning smoking in enclosed areas of public places.
